The unexpected collaboration shows that the possibilities are limitless

On the heels of being named #1 DJ on DJ Magazine’s ‘Top 100 DJ’s’ list for the third consecutive year, Martin Garrix releases his collaboration track and video for “Dreamer” with NYC subway busker MIKE YUNG. 

Martin first discovered Mike from his social media postings and YouTube performances. They met up earlier this year in New York and had an instant connection. Mike made his way over to Amsterdam to work with Martin in August and their collaboration “Dreamer” was born.

“Dreamer” is motivational song about chasing your dreams. Both Martin and Mike believe in uplifting, feel-good messages of positivity and chasing your dreams and this track represents that mantra. The accompanying visual follows Mike’s journey through his Brooklyn projects and through to Amsterdam where he records the track alongside an ecstatic Garrix in the studio.

MIKE YUNG is a former soul singer with an incredible story that is both heartbreaking and ultimately triumphant. “Dreamer” is YUNG’s first ever collaboration with a global superstar like Garrix. Signed in the 1980s to T.Electric alongside all-time legends like Etta James and Luther Vandross, he later fell on hard times, living on the street in New York, attacked by gangs and stabbed nine times. He spent 38 years busking on the subway to support his family in the projects in Brooklyn before appearing on the hugely popular America’s Got Talent in 2017, where he made it to the semi-finals.

This marks Garrix’s first time teaming up with a singer from the soul era. The unexpected collaboration shows that the possibilities are limitless for Garrix.
